Empire of the Sun.

One of my favourites – Not a new sound, not something we haven’t heard before, but since when did that make something less great?  A hippy, psychedelic,  mad-costumed-clad duo from down under with nasally vocals and mantra like lyrics. They’re songs are synth-pop  bundles of summer with catchy upbeat choruses and quirky lyrics. They might be fun in the sun, lie on a beach, cruise with the roof down songs, but yet at the same time, they are dance worthy, with driving beats and get up and grab you tunes. They may be a little off centre and sometimes a little too adventurous, but you cant help but get lost in head swaying vocals and dream like sounds.

Sound – MGMT, Foster the people, Passion Pit.

Tracks  – We are the People, Walking on a dream, Half Mast, Standing on the shore.

Album – Walking on a Dream (2009)

A music blog with a difference…

Well probably not. Lets be fair, they’re all pretty similar, there are thousands out there all good in their own rights. Mine I doubt will be ground-breaking, or anything that’s never been done before, it will however, contain music. Yes, tunes. artists, bands, anthems, whatever I come across and get that buzzing feeling about. That, take a breath, this is a song… whether it’s a guitar riff, the haunting voice of the lead singer, acoustic strumming, or one of those ‘I must dance now’ beats.  So really there isn’t anything as I have said particularly life changing happening except, you may just find a new favourite song, or discover an artist you never knew about.

Now I’m no Music Guru. I don’t know everyone who’s everyone, I can’t tell you a hit before it happens, I don’t talk as though I know what I’m saying half the time, but I do love music. I love finding music, I love browsing related artists that I like until I find someone epic, someone obscure, that I’ve never heard of, who makes my ears prick up, my feet tap, my spine tingle, whatever other cliché you can merit.

They may be people you know too, not quite as obscure and fan-less as I may think, or I’ll know they’re popular but damn they’re that good, they need shouting about anyways. Now I’ll start with people you should know, the bigger artists, give you a sense of the sort of thing I like, and then I’ll take you on a tour of the little gems I hide away. We already have something in common, you like music as much as I do. In fact I’ll wager everyone likes music of some sort, and maybe you just may happen to like what I like. So have a browse, have a play, have a dance, or click next, there must be something you like somewhere, and that’s the joy of music, half the fun’s discovering it in the first place.
